Review by Molly Brown
I read this
book I got from a friend. It's called Arthur Ashe and Me
and it was pretty good.
It's about this girl Faith, and she's like a really good tennis
player. Then she decides to stop
playing tennis and nobody knows why. Her parents are
divorced, so she goes to live with her
dad for the summer and he gets her a job at this old tennis
club. Every day she has to go and
sweep these clay courts to get them ready for the next day.
I don't know why she has to do it
but that doesn't matter. One day she's at the club she
meets the ghost of tennis-legend Arthur
Ashe. Every time she sees him, he gets her to tell some
more things about her secret for why
she stopped playing tennis. I can't give away the ending,
but the secret is a real surprise and
I just loved the story. I asked my friend how she got her
copy and she said her teacher ordered
copies from a place called Perfection Learning. I would
recommend it for those who like a good mystery.
Ashe's advice about not ignoring your gifts and the places they
can take you will have relevance
for most teens.
