Review by Kelcey Lark

It’s not every day your mom dies because of cancer. In the book Mother Please Don’t Die by Lurlene McDaniel, Megan McCaffery’s mom has cancer and is slowly dying because of it. This book is an amazing story because her mom is sick and it shows how she and her family coped with it, how they still live happily, and what all happens in the end.

Megan McCaffery is a teenage girl going through a pain that not many teenage girls go through. Her mom has a brain tumor, and doesn’t have much time left. She is also going through some troubles with a boy at her school that she kind of likes. Her sister is getting married, and now she wants to move the wedding up even sooner so her mom can be there. That just makes everything more stressful for her mom, and for Megan. Her sister wants her to be a bride’s mate, but Megan DOES NOT want to wear a dress. This book is a very touching story that makes you think twice about taking advantage of your family and everything that you have. Mother Please Don’t Die makes you realize that even if all you have is a little, it’s better then nothing at all.

Lurlene McDaniel has written 50 books that are more touching then any book you could read. She writes about real-life situations, for people who have diseases or are really sick. It lets them know that they are not alone. There are many people in the world that can help them too. Anyone can read these books; they will make you want to read more.

Mother Please Don’t Die will make you sad, but it is well worth it. Lurlene McDaniel is a wonderful author that writes books about these types of things to help others. You should definitely try this book out, and maybe some of her other ones too. She won’t let you down.
