My
Art & Johnny Depp
--by Crystal Nester Fernandez
My name is Crystal Nester Fernandez. Im
sixteen years old, living in thousands California.I have always
have had the passion for art since I was the age of 2.
I haven't had any professional art lessons, So my mother has
encouraged me to draw, which has gotten me and my art work
recognized by friends, teachers and family members. Most of my
artwork is inspired by Walt Disney's work. I'm also
inspired by actors, models, and my friends. My one major
inspiration right now is johnny depp.
Almost every assignment I had in my life drawing class at my school this
year, was based on pirates and johnny Depp.
So when I Found out the world premier of Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At
worlds End was going to be at Disney Land, I knew some how, some way I had
to get there and give my artwork to Johnny.
So on May 19th. My good friend Andrea and I woke at 12 midnight,
got all our pirate gear on, and went to Disney Land.
My mother and uncle drove my friend and I there, and we arrived at 2:57 exact.
There was a line to enter in the parking lot and we were 5th in
line. Around 3:30, 50 to 60 people were there. Pirate fans were blasting the
theme song of pirates of the Carribean, dancing around their cars like
dorks! So Andrea and I get out to go use the restrooms, and we saw a Disney
employee, and asked him if there were other people waiting for the world
premiere. He tells me 700 people are already lined up in front of entrance
of the park.700 people!
I run back to the car grab my bag and drawing and run
to the other side of the park with Andrea.
It was packed with other johnny fans with chairs and blankets. Just
waiting to be let in the park.
My drawing of johnny was framed and everything. A
security man tells me I can't enter the park with it unless I bought it from
the Disney company, and have a receipt for it.
My stomach felt like it dropped to the floor knowing I had to take drastic
measures to get it in. Me and Andrea go to the rest room take the frame,
the glass, everything apart, and fold the drawing into my bag. It got all
wrinkled, and dented...I felt horrible, and knew that this was so unfair.
We were finally let in at 6:30. I quickly got the best spot I could find. I
was relieved with joy, knowing I had a chance to meet Johnny All the other
fans and myself waited in the cold till 4:45. That's
when the celeberties started to arrive. They saved the best for last. Johnny
arrived at 7:20, and security was all around him. He was inches away
from me, so I held my wrinkled drawing as high as I could and far out.
Suddenly he saw my drawing and was about to sign it. Then I told him it was
for him, and not to sign it.
"Really? For me ?" he said .
Yes its for you!
"Oh Thank you! Its Beautiful"
He took it and handed it to his assistant, and he proceeded signing
autographs.
That day was truly an adventure. I waited forever to meet johnny and it was
worth it. Definitely worth it!
also here is a picture i found of myself holding my drawing
up, with johnny Depp
and this is the one i gave to him.
Best wishes,
