Dress Code that should be allowed! --by Jackee Broderick

            There are two dress code rules that I don’t agree with that I think are pointless and should be changed. The first rule is that you are not allowed to wear leggings/spandex under skirts that don’t fit the credit card length rule. Second rule is that you are not allowed to wear jeans that have holes in them. I don’t agree with these rules so throughout this paper I will be telling you why I don’t agree with these rules.

            The first rule is you are not allowed to wear leggings/spandex under skirts that don’t fit the credit card length rule. They say that your skirts have to be credit card length from top of the knee cap when standing straight. I don’t understand why you are not allowed to wear leggings/spandex under you skirts. Back in the olden days around the 80’s girls would only wear leggings/spandex without the skirts so why is it that bad to wear a short skirt over the leggings think about it, it is more modest if you wear the skirt. I understand if the skirt is so short that it isn’t even covering your bottom and isn’t doing anything. You should still be allowed to wear a short skirt with leggings/spandex though.

            The second rule is you can’t have holes in your jeans. If you don’t have too many holes in your jeans, you should be able to wear them and not get in trouble. Another thing is that I think if the holes shows the skin and is above credit card length then you should not be able to wear them because you don’t want to see too much of the persons skin. It should be okay though if the hole is above the knee cap but doesn’t show skin just shows fray because you don’t have to see their skin it is just the style. I don’t really get why they think that holes in pants represents a “gang” but really it is just a style that everyone enjoys wearing, it is not that big of a deal.

            After hearing what I have to say I hope you change your mind about school dress code. You should make it so that not to short of skirts should be allowed to wear if you are wearing legging/spandex under them. Also you should change it so that if you have holes in your jeans that are appropriate that you should be allowed to wear them to school and not have to change. These rules that you have made up I don’t agree with and I hope you think about changing them so that we can wear the styles that we want to wear.
