Marbles --by Karla Reno
"Lost his marbles" -- this is a common idiom used to describe people who have
gone crazy. People go crazy due to many different reasons but most commonly
just out of the normal everyday life of being an adult. You might not know it but
every day you lose a marble or two. Every time you're more worried about work
than your favorite baseball team winning the game. Being indulged in materialism
to impress people who don't matter. Each time you forget about something that
you use to get overly excited about, there goes a marble. It's not easy to keep
from losing them but sometime you have to have fun, forget about the everyday
complexities of life and act your shoe size. Spend a warm afternoon outside watching
butterflies fly from flower to flower, and ants marching up trees. Read the comics
instead of the depressing news on the front page. Trust in the power of smiles and
hugs; believe that the world can be as great as you saw it when you were little.
Follow the dreams that you once dreamt of, and remember, your not going to live
forever. Hold on to as many marbles as you can. Stay young be true. And even if
you only have one tiny marble left, you'll be ok.
