       The Best Friends       by:Christina Ledzin

"Once upon a time......"
"Yeah right! It's supposed to be an article about
something real not a fairytale"
"OK OK," I said brushing my hair with my hand.  "What are your ideas,
Mrs.Smarty Pants?"
"Well, if your really asking then...."
"Spill it, Gina. You know you want to."
"OK.  I want to write about Trevor Rutinberg, the most cutest and
athletic boy we'll ever know!"
"Oh stop drooling," I said, getting Gina a tissue. "Who would read an
article in the newspaper about some guy you think is so dreamy? Come
on be serious."
"Well I would."
"Ha Ha. Very funny.  REALLY, who are we going to write about?"
We sat there for a second thinking. Well at least I was. "I got it!" I
said on the top of my lungs. "How about Mrs..... Nah. Who am I kidding?
She's the Cafiteria lady."
"How about we write a poem, a poem about patriotism?"Gina said. She
looked very serious when she said that. It was kinda scary but it was a great
idea.
"Ok," I said "only if"
"Only if what?"
"Only if you help me, BEST FRIEND."
"Deal" Gina said as she smiled at me.
And here is the poem we wrote....

Patriotism

What patriotism means to us

The patriotism we share is very strong,
We could name alot and it will be long,
This one i can name right off the bat,
I am proud of my country i'll tell you that,
Red, White and Blue are tha colors of the flag,
Betsy Ross made the first flag out of a rag,
Those colors resemble so many things,
Like the bald eagle soaring his wings,
Also like Uncle Sam satnds for the U.S,
Without the U.S we would be a mess,
But since September 11th dreams die,
It was hard for America to say goodbye,
Those are some reasons we are proud,
Proud to be an American go tell it to a crowd.
