                                                Look At Me
by Kathy L Martin    Columbia, Louisiana

Look at me,

Do you see?

You don't have to judge me by my face

Not by my religion or my race.

I may not have the fashionable jeans to wear

Or the latest cut to my hair.

Look at me, Look deep inside

You may not see it, but I have lots to hide.

I hide behind the smiles, the secret lie.

Behind closed doors, you don't see me cry.

Look at me, do you see?

That sad and lonely person that lives inside of me.

Longing for a friend that would be there.

Hoping to have a friend who really cares.

I have many insecurities and doubts.

I sometimes don't know how to figure them out.

I wish someone would just look and see.

Look deep inside find the real me.
